EIDA STORSTRAND

STELLERS EIDER, THE HANGED (WO)MAN

Hi!! This page is for a school project I'm required to do for gruaduation. Despite several plans for this page, this page will mostly be a walkthrough of how I made this painting.
If I finish the barebones early and if I'm not completely worn out by this project by the end of the deadline (December 15), I'll try and polish and expand this a little more.

MATERIALS

THE WALKTHROUGH!!! YAYYY

  1. Undercoating

  2. For the undercoating I used yellow. Looking in hindsight it probably would've been better to use what many other people use, a warm brown. It's too late to go back now that it's done.

Trying to align the card borders properly were both painful and maybe ear grating.

  3. Starting it out... !

  4. Got started on general color blocking. What mattered most to me at the moment was the card and the birds. You can also se emet get started on the little foxglove. I didn't get the colors quite right despite there being a purple color of the flower. I'll get it to magenta at some point.
The card border is left alone for most of this.

Purple begone!!! The purple has been turned into a white for better contrast against Eida's pants considering that the darker. Another idea in my head was the idea of a border, so a placeholder was black. I'd decide against this later on. You may also see that I removed some er ... text. It was too shoddy. I couldn't.

The two eiders are basically done (one will be added later)to fill space on the bottom right).
The foxglove part is also being worked on. By far it was one of the harder parts of the painting, trying to balance everything close enough to the reference I was trying to base it on, the magenta kind of foxglove.

Huge jump from the last one. Overall development of the image. The black borders are gone since I changed my mind about them. Boo... You can also see the trusty Bass Pro Shops cup I use to hold the water.

The Foxglove and Mezeron were kicking my ass so I just figured I'd get it close enough. I needed to start this website anyway so I crammed this part.

You can also see Eida's face better :)
